Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught.

Anonymous asked: but most design surely is just a reinvention/reinterpretation of previous aspects and trends? Something you would consider "timeless" undoubtedly has some sort of contextual influence to make you say that. If you want your design to be considered "timeless" too you can't discount the idea of trends! haha"I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been." - Wayne Gretzky

Trends come and go, good design lasts forever. Throw style out the window, the idea is where it’s at.

Anonymous asked: just because it's been done alot lately (which i would be to differ) doesn't make it any less unique, what that makes it trendy! being trendy and appealing to market tastes can't be a bad thing!

As Sagmeister says “Style = Fart” (I think he’s right, and a genius). There is no point buying into trends, because the aim is to make a design that is timeless, where its function and the idea behind it transcend style. Obviously it’s great to have a design that looks good, but it has to be conceptually sound over all else. Sorry for sounding like a wanker.
